TIPS TO SUCCEED IN MS. DEL GRECO'S MATH CLASS
1. ACTIVELY DO YOUR HOMEWORK
a. Practice Like You Play!
b. Remove all distractions.
c. Review your notes before starting the homework.
d. If you do not know how to do a problem:
i. Look for similar examples from the lesson.
ii. Google, Kuta, Khan Academy, YouTube
iii. Ask a friend for help.
iv. E-mail Ms. Del Greco
v. If you still can not find the answer, write down your specific question(s) to ask in class the following day.
e. Correct any wrong answer in class while going over the homework.
2. COMPLETE EACH OPENER
a. Openers are a VERY important part of each lesson. They are a great way to review topics covered in previous lessons, or prepare you to a new topic.
b. Write down the question AND answer. If you look back at your opener to study for an assessment, will you know what the question was?
c. Many quiz/test questions are similar to the openers.
d. Openers give you a chance to “self assess”.
i. Do you understand what has been taught?
ii. Can you complete the opener without looking at your notes?
iii. Do you understand what the question is asking?
e. ASK QUESTIONS IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND!!
3. STUDY
a. YES- You really can study for MATH!!
b. Read through ALL notes and ALL openers.
i. This will ensure you know all of the topics you will be assessed on.
c. Create flash cards or study guides.
i. Break down large topics into smaller ones.
ii. Define any important vocabulary.
iii. Include examples.
d. Complete extra practice problems.
i. Do odd examples from the textbook and check your answers in the back of the book
ii. Kuta or Khan
iii. Re-do problems done in class or on homework.
4. COME TO EXTRA HELP
a. Even if you feel that you understand the material, come to extra help to:
i. Check in
ii. Do your homework
iii. Get extra practice problems
